Part 1: Teacher Crush

I have heard from many people saying that there is nothing greater than this moment in our life called as “first love”. This feeling doesn’t have any timelines or rules. Once in a lifetime every one experiences this but in this story the main character had this experience more once, because he was clueless and never realized that he was into this feeling again and again, knowingly or unknowingly.
Well, as I mentioned there is no rules, so our main character had experienced this moment long back in 90s. Like most of the stories start with this phrase “Once upon a time”, we too shall started in the same old fashion manner.
Once upon a time in Visakhapatnam (Vizag), a simple yet joyful city in south, there was a little boy named Mannu (aka Manoj Kamat) who was in 2nd standard in his school. Like other kids he was also nice, innocent, naughty and adorable for his parents and pretty good in studies too. Life was usual for him; woke up in morning, got ready, went to school, played with friends in evening, did home homework at home, had dinner with parents and slept after watching TV or playing some indoor games with parents and elder sister.
Everything was normal except that 30 minutes duration in his school when he used to have his Science class. That’s when he used to enjoy learning from his favourite teacher Ms Tamanna. He used to complete his science homework real quick every evening so that he can hear those sweet words from her which makes his day, which is “Good Boy”. In fact, Mannu was the most prompt student in science period and other students in class also used to admire him. Well Ms Tamanna’s sweet nature and attractive looks were the reasons why Mannu used to give his best in class.
He cannot forget the first class when she came in and just the appearance was mesmerizing and like any Bollywood movie there were all kinds of music to the ears, breeze was cooler than usual and that moment our Mannu was in love with those beautiful eyes. From that moment his favourite song was “Pehla Nasha” from Hindi movie “Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar” and he used to imagine himself as Aamir Khan. In that tender age he felt like an adult; romantic and energetic.

But the highlight of the day was yet to come. Ms Tamanna began her class with a short quiz of 5 questions and took out few chocolates from her purse and said to class that whoever will answer her questions will get those chocolates. Mannu was very excited because they were those “Cadbury 5-star” bars; every kid’s favourite in 90s. She started asking questions one by one but Mannu was unable to answer them in quickly for first four questions but fifth time he was lucky and answered faster than any other kid in class. Here Ms Tamanna discovered that she only had four bars in her purse and she was tensed while putting her hand inside her purse. Mannu was waiting for my chocolate bar eagerly and ran towards her from his desk to collect it. She stared at him with a sorry face and said “Sorry, I had only 4 bars with me, but I will get it for you tomorrow.” Mannu was really sad to hear that and saw the other four kids already eating them. Then he turned towards Ms Tamanna with sad face because today it is Saturday followed by Sunday tomorrow, which means he will have to wait longer for his bar. The next moment Ms Tamanna smiled and told “Oh don’t be upset. You answered the last question so you will get chocolate bar and this…” and then very gently she kissed on both of his cheeks. Mannu was stunned and felt magical, not only for that moment but for entire day.

He was in love now and started thinking about her every time and was attentive in class when she used to teach. He was scoring high in science and Ms Tamanna used to reward him with the same chocolate bars & a kiss on his cheeks every time she used to declare the class test results. They both were soon very friendly and Mannu used to even return back to his home sitting behind Ms Tamanna’s Kinetic Honda scooter, because their houses were in same area too. This episode went on till he got into 3rd class and one fine day in mid year he decided to express his feelings to her and reciprocate the chocolate bars and kisses.

So went out to nearest shop and bought different types of chocolates and at home put them in a cardboard box and decorated nicely along with a note that says “To My Dear Tamanna madam”.

Next day he got up early, took bath and wore his uniform, sprayed some of his mother’s perfume and went to school with great excitement. He was lost in his first two periods of English and Maths and was waiting with his package for third period of Science. When time came he went to the door and stood there to welcome her with that gift box. While standing out he didn’t noticed Mr Sharma, another Science teacher of school entered the class room and he heard the noise from the class room “Good morning Sir”. He turned and saw inside that Mr Sharma is standing and shouted at him, “Why are standing outside, come inside now and sit in your place.” Mannu quietly hiding his gift box went to his desk and sat. Then Mr Sharma said, “My dear students, from today I will be your new science teacher….” Mannu interrupted and asked “Why you? Where is Tamanna madam?” Mr Sharma got annoyed and stared at Mannu. Then he smiled a little and said “Your Tamanna madam, will not be coming to school anymore because she is getting married and going to Mumbai with her husband. So, Principal Sir has told me to take your science classes from today. So let’s start.”

Poor boy Mannu; he was devastated to hear this news and was completely lost for the entire day. With a heavy heart he went home alone that day because Ms Tamanna was not there with her Kinetic Honda scooter to drop him near his lane. He was restless because his plan for a fantastic day with his favourite person was spoiled like hell and everything shattered.
At home he lied down on the sofa in his drawing room and started dreaming that he went to Mumbai to visit Ms Tamanna and at her home he rang the doorbell and there she appeared like Madhuri Dixit and he felt like Anil Kapoor from the Hindi movie “Tezaab” and started singing the song “Keh do ki tum ho meri varna, jina nahi mujhe hai marna…..” (Please tell me you are mine or else I will die). Ms Tamanna smiled at him while Mannu with a romantic style he moved his hands forward to give something and found them empty and then started searching his gift like crazy. All of a sudden he felt someone shaking him gently and shouting, “Get up”.

He woke up from his dream and it was his elder sister told him, “Get up. You are sleeping on the TV remote.” He looked towards the TV and found that the same song of that movie “Tezaab” was playing on screen. He was out of his dream now and took a deep breath. He then went to bathroom to freshen up. Then he sat on the sofa again, where his mother gave him a glass of hot milk with Horlicks and Marie Biscuits upon the center table.

Then his sister asked, “Hey Mannu! where is that nicely decorated box in which you took chocolates today to school?” Mannu’s eyes were wide open remembering that he left it on his desk in his classroom and shouted “Oh Noooooo”
